In the last few centuries , several researchers have described and analyzed Leviathan , which is the main work of British philosopher Thomas Hobbes. The most famous of them was Carl Schmitt. In his investigation “Der Leviathan in der Staatslehre des Thomas Hobbes” (1938), he not only created a philosophical masterpiece, but also raised an important issue about the mythology and theology in T.Hobbes`s magnum opus. Some thinkers suppose that C.Schmitt had an absolute authority to do that, but there are also some others, who question it. This paper sets out to examine the accuracy and validity of Schmitt`s arguments about political myth and theology in the light of late T.Hobbes`s interpretations. Such type of research may help us not only to clarify Schmitt`s arguments, but also to expose the mythological and theological intentions of T.Hobbes.
