Institutions of socialization and life trajectories of young entrepreneurs

<p align="center"><strong>Institutions of socialization and life trajectories of young entrepreneurs in Russia</strong></p><p>The present study carried out in Moscow with 18-30 years old respondents who were engaged in business activity for at least 3 years (4 males and 4 females from 18 to 24 years old; 4 males and 4 females from 25 to 30 years old).</p><p><strong>The aim</strong>&nbsp;of the research was to examine how life trajectories of young entrepreneurs were formed in the context of modern institutions of socialization such as their family, education, social environment and professional experience.</p><p><strong>Thus, the object of present study:&nbsp;</strong>life trajectories of young entrepreneurs.</p><p><strong>Subject:</strong>&nbsp;institutions of socialization which influence on the individual&rsquo;s choice of further career paths.</p><p><strong>Within this broad purpose the following questions were addressed:</strong></p><p>1. What are the main reasons affecting individual&rsquo;s choice to become an entrepreneur?</p><p>2. Which roles in this choice do the institutions of socialization play?</p><p>3. To identify the most typical life trajectory of entrepreneurs based on their socio-demographic characteristics.</p><p>The general research perspective is qualitative: data were gathered with 16&nbsp;<strong><em>narrative interviews</em></strong>&nbsp;with entrepreneurs. One of the main approaches to analyze narratives is the&nbsp;<strong><em>method of grounded theory</em></strong>. This technique allows to make a transition from an individual&rsquo;s experience to the general categories which are formed via institutions of socialization: education, family, professional experience, social environment.</p><p>The results showed that respondents with different&nbsp;<strong>gender</strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>city of socialization</strong>&nbsp;have different life trajectories</p><p><strong><em>Males from cities which population is more than 500 thousands</em></strong></p><p>The institutions of socialization such as respondent&rsquo;s&nbsp;<strong>family</strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>social environment</strong>&nbsp;play the most important role on their decision to become an entrepreneur. In fact, males from big cities are more likely to follow the paths of successful entrepreneurs, despite the lack of family support which may explained <strong><em>via categories</em></strong>: &laquo;fear of risk and instability&raquo; and &laquo;useless for the society&raquo; - the procedure of axial coding). They may be called &laquo;followers&raquo;.</p><p><strong><em>Males from cities</em></strong><strong><em> which population is less than 500 thousands</em></strong></p><p>Tthe institutions of socialization such as respondent&rsquo;s&nbsp;<strong>family</strong>,&nbsp;<strong>social environment</strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>education</strong>&nbsp;play the most important role on their decision to become an entrepreneur. In fact, male from small cities are mostly fight with life conditions in which they were growing. Their family doesn&rsquo;t support them (especially their mothers) &ndash; <strong><em>category</em></strong>: &laquo;desire to protect&raquo;. They believe that social networks and self-education will allow them to become successful entrepreneurs &ndash; <strong><em>category: </em></strong>&laquo;human capital development&raquo;. They may be called &laquo;fighters&raquo;.</p><p><strong><em>Females from cities </em></strong><strong><em>which population is more than 500 thousands</em></strong></p><p>The institutions of socialization such as&nbsp;<strong>social environment</strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>professional experience</strong>&nbsp;play the most important role on their decision to choose this career path. Usually, female from big cities are more likely to searching for the most interesting career path for themselves &ndash; <strong><em>category</em></strong>: &laquo;openness to new things&raquo;. They assume that it is crucial to do something that brings pleasure. This group may be called &laquo;advent
