"Factors of publication activity of Russian researchers and its impact on earnings"

<p><strong>Purpose</strong> - to identify the factors which influence the publication activity of Russian researchers, and to identify the linkage between scientists&rsquo; publication activity and their income.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Objectives:</strong></p><p style="margin-left:36.0pt;">1.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Identify how scientific capital, socio demographic characteristics (gender, age, marital status) and institutional features of the scientific environment affect the publication activity of scientists.</p><p style="margin-left:36.0pt;">1.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Test of the association between publication activity of scientists and their income, and then compare the publication activity and level of revenue of &quot;junior&quot; and &quot;senior&quot; generation of academic researchers.</p><p style="margin-left:36.0pt;">2.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Compare the factors influencing the publication activity of the &quot;junior&quot; and &quot;senior&quot; scientists.</p><p style="margin-left:36.0pt;">3.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Reveal the internal structure of the main job satisfaction and determine how it relates to the effectiveness of scientists.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Methods of analysis:</strong> Pearson correlation analysis, regression analysis, factor analysis, analysis of the mean values.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Results:</strong></p><p>Scientists who work in the academic field in the main work and one of the additional works, or on all three works publish more articles than their colleagues who work in the academic field in only one of their jobs, or only on extra work. The knowledge of foreign languages positively is influenced the publication activity and also the same effect has international cooperation etc. However visiting various courses negatively affects scientific productivity. There was found a direct linear relationship between wages and publication activity, regardless of the employment in the academic field on the main or second work. The satisfaction of main work which imply an opportunity of self-actualization has a positive effect on the publication activity. It was found that &quot;older&quot; generation of researchers surpass &quot;younger&quot; generation in the number of publications in peer-reviewed journals, foreign journals and also the amount of earnings from the first job, regardless of the sphere of employment.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Graduate work contains 70 pages, 1 sсheme, 7 tables in the text and 20 in the appendix, 40 literature sources.</p><p>&nbsp;</p>
