Elaboration of development strategy of passenger transporting company

<p>In today&#39;s world within a regional framework is very important to have developed passenger transport system for maintaining sustainable social and economic development of the region. The Perm region has such structure, but it is declined.</p><p>This work aims to help to develop the passenger transport sector. The main goal of this investigation is to elaborate development strategy of &quot;Permskaya Prigorodnaya Kompaniya&quot;, which is a public company and is the largest provider of public transport in the Perm region.</p><p>The objects of this study are the company and the whole system of passenger traffic in the region. The subject is the development strategy of the company and of the whole region.</p><p>The main objectives to achieve this goal are:</p><p style="margin-left:36.0pt;">&bull;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Analysis of the current state of the passenger transport system of the region in general and the company &quot;PPK&quot;;</p><p style="margin-left:36.0pt;">&bull;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Identification of key issues, constraints and opportunities for the development of the Company and the transport system;</p><p style="margin-left:36.0pt;">&bull;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Development of a model of the transport system and the company for the period from 2014 to 2030.</p><p>During the investigation the specific features of the transport industry in general and the Perm region in particular were identified, state of the company was described and the strategic analysis of 3 major environments were estimated:</p><p style="margin-left:36.0pt;">&bull;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Macro environment;</p><p style="margin-left:36.0pt;">&bull;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Microenvironment;</p><p style="margin-left:36.0pt;">&bull;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Internal environment.</p><p>To identify threats of macro environment was used PEST-analysis.</p><p>Microenvironment analysis included several steps:</p><p style="margin-left:36.0pt;">1.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Analysis of consumer and building its portrait on the basis of the survey conducted for the project among residents of Perm region;</p><p style="margin-left:36.0pt;">2.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Analysis of demand including calculation of price elasticity and other factors</p><p style="margin-left:36.0pt;">3.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Competitive analysis of all sectors, where the company is positioning;</p><p style="margin-left:36.0pt;">4.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Analysis of &quot;Porter&#39;s 5 Forces.&quot;</p><p>For the analysis of the internal environment of the company was assessed its financial condition by using a technique developed by JSC &quot;Russian Railways&quot; for its subsidiaries and affiliated companies and carried out SNW-analysis.</p><p>On the basis of the data obtained SWOT-analysis was conducted, which identified strengths and weaknesses of the company, opportunities and threats of the external environment.</p><p>After that a new strategic vision, mission and objectives for the Company were developed. Then the new development strategy of the Company was described and a system of indicators for assessing the effectiveness of this strategy was wrote down.</p><p>After the investigation the following results were achieved:</p><p style="margin-left:36.0pt;">&bull;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; A strategic analysis of the Company and the market;</p><p style="margin-left:36.0pt;">&bull;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Problems and positive aspects of the internal state of the company and the opportunities and threats of the environment;</p><p style="margin-left:36.0pt;">&bull;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Development strategy of the entire transport system as a whole and of &quot;PPK&quot;;</p><p style="margin-left:36.0pt;">&bull;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The system of indicators to assess the effectiveness of the strategy development.</p>
