Peculiarities of Perception of Fictional Texts with Linguistic Games by Bilingual Children

In master thesis 'Percetion of Russian Fiction Texts with Wordplay by Russian Heritage/ Native Learners in the Process of Reading' examines the reading process of bilingual children with Russian literary texts containing language games. The original materials were collected from a group of Heritage/Native Learners, who live close to Washington, D.C., USA by the experiment. The study provides an innovative methodology to compare the ability to to read of pupils of different ages and the results of the analysis of perception of Russian texts with wordplay by bilingual children (7-15 years). Using methodological developments, the Author demonstrates the need to use texts with wordplay in the program of teaching Russian language and literature of children abroad.
