For the statistical evaluation of the quality of life, it is important to understand that this category is a combination of social security, demographics, infrastructure development, environmental conditions and material status. In turn, the innovation development within the region is reflected in the level of development is not only the innovation sphere, but also closely related areas of information and computer technology, as well as the sphere of scientific and technological development. This study examines the relationship of all the above components using an improved method of principal components, as well as the methods of regression analysis and clustering analysis. In addition, the tools of log-linear analysis were used and innovative behavior of the population of the Russian Federation based on the classification decision trees was simulated. A significant correlation of innovation development of the region with the quality of life of its population has been proven; also it was revealed that the most open to innovation group of respondents is people under 25 years which are engaged in intellectual work.
