The movement on an innovative way of development is possible only in the presence of the effective and reliable mechanism of management of innovative potential. One of such mechanisms is a creation of an innovative ecosystem. In the work a large number of articles of the Russian and foreign authors is analyzed. Therefore the different points of view on definition of innovative ecosystems have been revealed, the main features of this object are noted, and total definition of concept is given. The innovative ecosystem is considered as area of growth of the innovative projects arising in it. The project grows when moves ahead on stages of the development. We confirm with the research that competitions of innovative projects are capable to become one of basic elements of an innovative ecosystem which is responsible for transition of the project on stages. Detailed methodology of research and its theoretical justification is presented in the last part of the first chapter. Further the direct research of competitions is described. Three regional innovative ecosystems have been studied: Moscow, Silicon Valley and London. In each of these ecosystems competitions of innovative projects and their winners have been selected. We have interrogated winners regarding their participation in these competitions. Thereby the direct dependence between promotion of the winner project on stages and success of an innovative ecosystem has been revealed. The wide grid of regular competitions covering all stages of development of potential participants is necessary for creation of the developed innovative ecosystem. Results of research are given in the conclusion, and the one of the existing researches of competitions of innovative projects is considered. Such way of improvement of competitions as the crowd funding is also offered.
