Corporate Practices to Deploy User-Driven Innovations

User-driven innovations approach is an important part of the overall innovative activity in the economy. Currently, companies face strong market competition and deal with the aggressive financial environment. Users’ involvement into innovation project became a popular and cost-effective solution. This new approach confirmed its efficiency in various industrial and services sectors. In spite the fact that the users’ contribution is critically important, the key role in the user-driven innovations deployment process belongs to a company who determines the necessity of the project, initiates and leads it. Therefore, the innovation project’s success depends heavily on companies’ ability to manage the process accurately. That explains the practical importance of the conducted research. The conducted research provides the findings on how companies actually govern user-driven innovation deployment process. Firstly, the research determines advantages and limitations of the users’ involvement into the innovation process. Secondly, the paper discusses which industries are perspective in terms of users’ involvement into the innovation process. Thirdly, the study offers the user-driven innovations deployment process description that is represented in the developed process matrix. It describes the key process stages and defines the role of job functions at each stage of the user-driven innovation process. Finally, the empirical part of the research identifies the user-driven innovations corporate deployment practices trends, based on the conducted semi-structured interviews with experts who has real experience in collaboration with users and in relevant projects implementation.
