Religious and Philosophical Basis of Vl.F. Ern’s Concept of Logos

Student: Verinchuk Yaroslav

Supervisor: Olga Zhukova

Faculty: Faculty of Humanities

Educational Programme: Philosophy (Bachelor)

Year of Graduation: 2016

This qualification work is aimed at revision of the philosophical legacy of Vl. Ern and his epistemological concept of Logism particularly. This research was intended for working of the following hypothesis: Ern's philosophy in many ways imbibed western intellectual attitude of mind. Furthermore, to prove this idea in present investigation were raised both Ern's interpretation of Italian philosophy of 19th century and German transcendental philosophy in relation to Christian theory of Logos. As a result, this paper revealed undeniable western features inherent in cultural and gnoseological aspects of Ern's philosophy which can not afford to consider this scholar an utter supporter of slavophilism. In such a way, investigation allows to revise not only scientific status of Vladimir Ern, but also the generic character of Russian religious philosophy of the beginning of 20th century which was directly connected with Ern's thought. The reinterpretation of philosophy of Vl Ern as a synthesis of plural western and slavophil values may entail the application of such analysis to theoretical basis of many Russian scholars. From the standpoint of new understanding of Ern's place in Russian thought this very thought - and opposition of westernism and slavophilism as it's essential core - can be revised. In fact, such historical overhaul may have an influence upon contemporary Russian philosophy.
