Optimization of Order Cycle Time in Nuclear Industry Based on Lean Production Concept (on the Example of TENEX)

This study concerns the potential use of Lean and Six Sigma to improve the process involved in order processing in nuclear industry. World nuclear market globalization, increasing the level of international competition, strategic alliances between global competitors from different countries may influence on Russian nuclear industry position on the global market. To save the position on the global nuclear market it is necessary to meet customer requirements, more specifically – to decrease the order cycle time. Lean and Six Sigma approach is commonly used in production and other industries to improve process efficiency and quality, but these concepts are not widely spread in the nuclear industry, although the length of the order cycle could be considered as a one of major competitive advantages and an instrument of increasing company’s efficiency performance. The overall goal of the study is to achieve the revenue increase by reducing order cycle time. The results obtained shows that significant reduction of order cycle time as a competitive advantage could be successfully attained by implementing the Lean Six Sigma concept, what might be a good recommendation how to improve operational process in the company of nuclear industry.
