The main aim of the paper is the determination of factors that influence the academic achievement of students as the main factor of quality of educational institution's work. One of the main sections of the work is the investigation of the presence of peer effects and this section has two main lines of inquiry: graph theory approach and regression discontinuity approach, realized on two different datasets. The main hypothesis of the section is the presence of peer effects and their non-linearity. In addition to this hypothesis, the influence of sex of a student, of his achievements on olympiads and attendance of different professors is also investigated. The section confirms the hypothesis of presence and non-linearity of peer effects, rejecting the hypothesis of sex and professors factors influence on a particular subject. USE exams are also tested and shown to be good indicators of initial abilities and knowledge of students. Moreover, efforts of a student are modeled by constructing a new variable, which raises the predictive power of the models completely without adding endogeneity problem. The Thesis has 11 tables, 2 figures, 4 graphs. Applications contain 11 tables and 2 figures. 10 sources of literature are used. The count of pages is 44.
