Modelling Team Performance in Cyber Sports

Sociologists claim that previous success and failure are connected with future ones with collective efficacy as a mediator. This paper studies mechanisms altering short-term performance in eSports. Using data on professional matches from a popular game Dota 2 I found that success actually breeds success and the same is true for defeat. These loops are mediated with the strength of victory or defeat. However, features of gaming strategy, whether it is stable or risky, do not influence future performance.
