Using Audiovisual Aids as Means of Forming Professional Competence of Linguists (Based on Google Sites)

Current research is aimed at identifying the level of listening skills formation and determining the peculiarities of listening skills development when teaching linguists. Relevance of the research is determined by using modern information and communication technologies, namely Google website for posting audiovisual material and a set of practice activities on it. The author shows that using Google website and other Google instruments in a learning process encourage effective listening skills development and, as a consequence, successful formation of linguists' professional competence. Analyzed listening test results form the basis of presented set of listening exercises. Videotexts selected for the set of listening exercises contain linguistic and cultural information. As for the exercises, they are designed to practice listening for gist/detail/specific information.
