Analysis and Enhancement of Warehouse KPI on the Practical Example

KPI system of the warehouse is one of the most efficient and strategically reliable means of control of warehousing logistics productivity. While enabling the high-level control on current and completed operations, system of key performance indicators stays as one of the most significant ways of informing the management and aspect of decision making process, especially to establish short-term and medium-term forecasting of loading distribution and human resources management. However, such a system can be affected by uncertainty. Although the various key performance indicators are generally accepted in the logistic community as an industrial standard, there exists plenty of them that do not give correct and complete overview of the situation in business. This problem is discussed in scientific literature and community slightly. This research is directed to correction of existing situation of uncertainty. Main aim of the study is the improvement of the KPI system of the real warehouse. Objectives of the study include rigorous investigation on the existing practice and scientific literature review, obtaining amounts of accurate time indicators and formulation of recommendations for KPI system improvement basing on conducted calculations. Empirical research allows improvement of clear vision of warehouse productivity and increasing of operations efficiency. Results of the research include the new basis for productivity and efficiency measurement and its analysis and comparison with already defined default foundations for logistics indexes; new key performance indicators separated by goods category and characteristics; their influence on such aspects of warehousing logistics as productivity of routine operations in the warehouse and cost distribution of the storage services provider.
