This visual research takes place within the theme "visual elements in science fiction cinema’s evolution". Science-fiction cinematography is the most powerful force in mass culture. Based on the existing achievements in the field of science and design, it transforms and develops them, proposing new concepts, popularizing this subject and determining the trends in the evolution of the cultural areas involved in it for years to come. Cinematography includes a huge variety of visual materials: graphics, architecture, interfaces, industrial design, costume design. This research is most useful to graphic designers and enthusiasts of science fiction movies. About 70 films of this genre were selected from 1902 to 2015 and more than 2000 images of various design elements were collected. It was categorized according to the main features: interface graphics, typography, industrial design of the environment, costumes and interior. The structure of the work is based on the analysis of material from different years, the search for similarities and patterns. The narrative is grouped in such a way as to maximally reflect the continuity of the visual elements construction in different periods. As a result of the research, it was shown how the same graphemes of elements were preserved for a century, sometimes undergoing the strongest stylistic changes, and sometimes returning to the original forms. Thus, in the process of the work, the most important visual elements were found, which are a kind of "cliché" from design in sci-fi movies. These visual images can be used by artists and designers who create projects in this genre, and get their further development. For other people - this is a clear example of the continuity of style within the genre throughout the century.
