Development of Software for Hardware-Software Measuring Complex for Mechanical Testing of Metal Sheet

Student: Pimenov Aleksandr

Supervisor: Konstantin Bogachyov

Faculty: HSE Tikhonov Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics (MIEM HSE)

Educational Programme: Infocommunication Technologies and Systems (Bachelor)

Final Grade: 9

Year of Graduation: 2017

The main purpose of this graduate work is to create software as a part of the hardware-software measuring complex based on the ATmega328 microcontroller and a PC that measures the mechanical properties of the sheet material. It is carried out the analysis of the hardware of the measuring device and the process of its interaction with a personal computer via a USB port using serial port emulation. The next section discusses various programming languages for solving the problem of transferring data between devices and justifies the selection of the development environment and the open free Java-based Processing language for using it with the measuring device. Before developing the final project, it was created a test program that has the receiving and outputting data functions to verify the correct connection with the measuring device using the Processing Serial library. The resulting program receives data from the hardware part of the complex, processes, saves them in the computer's memory in the .csv format, and displays them in real time as a graph that allows you to observe the dynamical change of the material properties. At the same time, it is possible to display previous measurements downloaded from the file system as a graph.
