The following paper proposes a model of peer-to-peer decentralized cloud storage solution based on blockchain technology and is intended to prove the hypothesis of aforementioned being the most secure kind of storage. The general purpose of the present research is the analysis of benefits of decentralized cloud storage model based on blockchain compared to traditional cloud storage in terms of security based on confidentiality, availability and integrity. Present paper consists of 52 pages, including 14 figures and 2 tables followed by the list of 42 references. The specific task of the study includes the following: • To analyze scientific research on the subject of the study • To research existing projects of distributed file storage • To analyze methods for ensuring data security in a decentralized blockchain-based environment • To develop models of decentralized and modern file storage systems • To analyze comparison of existing traditional and decentralized blockchain-based cloud storage • To develop models of node interaction scenarios in the form of UML sequence diagrams The first part of the study is devoted to modern cloud storage vulnarabilities research and a review of the existing decentralized blockchain-based file storage projects. The second chapter describes benefits of decentralized blockchain-based cloud storage in compared to traditional “cloud”, considers a comparison of Dropbox and Storj. The aforementioned part reviews potential attacks of distributed systems. The last chapter consists of data redundancy scheme review and node interaction scenarios as UML sequence diagrams. The result of the paper is the proof of the advantage of decentralized blockchain-based storage over modern cloud systems in terms of confidentiality, availability and integrity. This study can be useful for end users to improve the overall level of data protection and security by moving to a more advanced system.
