Development of Strategic Alternatives for Severstal Company

This paper examines present situation of metallurgical industry of the Russian Federation, strategy of the Severstal company and offers recommendations for further strategic development. The work is performed on the basis of information obtained through: interviews with heads of structural divisions of the company and content analysis of electronic sources. The analysis is based on the following tools: PEST-analysis, Porter's Five Forces, SNW-analysis, SWOT-analysis. The result of the research conducted in this study is the analytical insights that are applicable not only in the framework of the considered enterprise, but also can be used in strategic management activities of other metallurgical companies as the improoved strategy of Severstal company has specific features adapted for metallurgical businesses.
