In this paper we investigate downward nominal wage rigidity (henceforth DNWR) in Russia and US for the period from 2001 to 2012. In this work, in order to reveal factors that explain difference in wage rigidity for employees we use nonparametric methods. In the case of downward wage rigidity we will observe the gap at zero in the density of wage change distribution. We propose to use this gap as a manifestation and a measure of DNWR. Moreover we investigate influence of labour mobility on the gap. The evaluation results suggest that wage rigidity in Russia is determined by the same factors as in the US and Europe, with the exception of the activity of trade unions and low inflation. Also, race and trade unions have a little influence on DNWR in US.
