Statistical Analysis of Crime

This work presents a statistical analysis of crime in the Russian Federation. It contains a general description of crime, statistical indicators that characterize it, a review of the literature dedicated to the problem of crime and an analysis of the dynamics and structure of crimes in Russia over the past 10 years. The empirical part of this paper presents an analysis of the factors influencing the number of crimes by regions from 2010 to 2016 using regression analysis of panel data. This study also contains an econometric model of time series describing the dynamics of the number of recorded crimes from January 2010 to March 2017. Based on the constructed forecast, it was concluded that the number of crimes will grow until the end of 2017.
