Final Grade: 8

Year of Graduation: 2017

This graduate work is devoted to the study of informal employment. The study conducted a cross-country analysis of the informal sector, both in Russia and abroad. The theoretical aspects of informal employment, the reasons for its choice and the existing approaches to measurement were also considered. An empirical analysis of informal employment in Russia was conducted on the basis of the data from The Russia Longitudinal Monitoring Survey - Higher School of Economics (RLMS-HSE) from 21 to 24 waves. As a result, it was revealed that only sex and education of the respondents have a stable influence on the probability of getting into the informal sector. Other selected indicators lose their significance depending on the year or model specification, or do not have any effect on the probability of a positive outcome of the dependent variable (the type of the main work is "0" formal or "1" informal).
