Nowadays, every person faces daily task of moving of goods and passengers over different distances. The solution is a transport system. In this regard, each state raises the question of upgrading and improving the efficiency of the transport system on a par with other important socio-economic issues. Therefore, the problems related to private cars, public transport and safety on them are extremely relevant now. Thus, the aim of this work is a statistical analysis of road traffic and rail transport in Russia. There was identified the set of factors which influence the level of passenger traffic in Russia. It turned out that there are only three common values for two regression equations. Meanwhile, two of them have opposite influence on the dependent variables. Based on the results of building time-series model, it was concluded that the level of passenger of buses shows a negative trend of development in the coming years. This is due to the increasing popularity and comfort of other kinds of public transport. And it also depends on rapid growth in the level of motorization in Russia, which is not far from the level of European countries. Regional heterogeneity in terms of passenger transportation volumes by rail are reflected with the matching group.
