Practices of Cooperation Between Schools and Families and Effects of Parental Involvement

As modern research shows, the level of cooperation between the family and the school can be one of the factors of high educational achievement. In this work 117 interviews with teachers and representatives of administration of 30 schools from different regions of Russia are analyzed and the practices of interaction between schools and families are described taking into account their socio-economic status and cultural capital, location and type of school. It is shown that schools can build productive interaction even with dysfunctional families, achieving higher educational outcomes of students. The paper provides a list of best practices that contribute to the achievement of such cooperation.
