Value Basis of Labor Activity of High School of Economics Students in Contemporary Russian Conditions

Student: Grishin Alexander

Faculty: Graduate School of Business

Educational Programme: Human Resource Management (Master)

Final Grade: 7

Year of Graduation: 2017

The current study provides an analysis of value basis of labor activity of Higher School of Economics students in contemporary Russian conditions. The center of analysis is the value-motivational basis of students' attitudes toward the profession, the study of contradictions and trends in the implementation of this framework. Due to the analysis of existing studies, we managed to prove that at the moment there is a lack of understanding of the problem of the profession and the attitude of employees to it (this problem is more precise than a problem of attitude to the work as a whole, but constitutes it’s "core"). We tried to fill in the lack of knowledge through studying the attitudes toward the profession of students of various specialties - master's programs. Based on a sociological survey conducted among HSE students of the Faculty of Business and Management, the Faculty of Humanities, the Faculty of Economics, the Faculty of Social Sciences and analysis of data using statistical methods of analysis, we were able to test hypotheses such as the hypothesis of presence of a relationship between the specialty of students and the set of values of labor behavior that is inherent in him/her; of the existence of a relationship between the work and study of the student, etc. Based on the analysis, we were able to confirm a presence of a statistically significant relationship between the variables and prove that, depending on the specialty, the students' values do vary. We analyzed the results obtained taking into account past studies and suggested ways on how it is possible to further deepen the analysis for future research.
