The Concept of Poetry in Catull's Poems: Translations of Fet and Shervinsky

The poems by Catullus are always considered as poems about love. It is extremely popular topic in Catull’s poetry, but in this paper will be analyzed the poet’s image in his lyric. It is necessary to analyze the chosen Catull’s poems, which connect with a poetry topic, and compare translations of two Russian translators of different epochs. This study attempts to reveal Catull’s attitude to the poets of his epoch and show how Catullus imagined a perfect poet. It is also important to analyze how Catull’s poetry concept is changed in russian translations.
