School Story in Children's Literature of the GDR and the USSR

Though the origins of the genre of 'School story' rest in the first half of the twentieth century, in the USSR it became particularly popular after the Second World War. In the GDR this genre appeared and developed under the influence of the Soviet literature and the Soviet ideology; however, it has its own characteristics. The study attempts to make a comparative analysis of the Soviet School stories and German ones in order to analyze the genre explicitly.
