Features of the Production of Travel Programs on the Russian Modern Television

This study is about features of the production of travel programs on the Russian modern television. So, the aim of this study is to find out what is the peculiarity of producing such television projects. There are a few research task which can help to reach the purpose of the study: to learn how travel programs changed over time on Russian television; to study what travel programs are shown today in Russia, and who their audience is; to know the specificity and stages of production of modern travel programs; to determine features of the production of travel programs on the Russian modern television. The study draws on data from comparative analysis of travel programs, secondary content analysis and expert interviews with producers and authors of such TV programs. Based on the results there are the synopsis of the new travel program, the script of its teaser and a link to the video in the project part of this study. As a result of the research it was found out that travel programs are on 4 Russian TV channels with the largest share in 2015. They are Channel One, NTV, Friday, Russia C. In total, there are 11 travel programs. In addition, it was found that the concept of "producer" is very blurred in the case of travel programs. In general, the responsibilities of the producer of travel programs include: search for the idea of the project, finances, employees, locations and new features for the TV program; organization of the shooting process; negotiations with business partners; interaction with all stakeholders; maintaining harmony in the team; solving any problem. Producing is significantly influenced by: business trips; long production process; absence of live broadcasts and links to significant events; the fact that one issue of TV program is always about one country, city or topic. The results of this study can be useful for people who are working on the creation of new travel programs on TV.
