The Establishment of the Indo-Pacific Region and its South China Sea Dimension

The work is a study of the formation of the Indo-Pacific region in the context of the dispute in the South China Sea (SCS). In particular, it is a study of the relationship between the members of the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue and the ASEAN claimants in the SCS conflict. The work determines the factors influencing the formation of the region, evaluates the forming relations, as well as defines the strategic directions of the participants' policies and the potential for resolving the dispute. Recommendations for future cooperation in the region in regard to economic, military, and political ties are given, and their effects on the territorial dispute were analyzed. The study is conducted through the prism of the theory of neorealism by K. Waltz and his followers, as well as the concept of hedging.
