The Problem of the Psychological Congruity Between the Home Environment and the Inhabitants` Personality (the Case of Design Projects)

The problem of the present study refers to the necessity of scientific rethinking of existing theoretical approaches considering the creation of environment as the main factor of person’s functionality. This study aims to investigate the degree of psychological congruence between living environment and personality of its inhabitants within the framework of professional design. The practical significance of the study lies in the fact that a study of a house image, of the interconnection between the functionality of home environment and psychological prosperity facilitates the improvement in the processes of giving psychotherapist help and consulting with the aim of creation of safe, comfortable, friendly, and supportive environment providing optimal conditions for functionality of its inhabitants. We analyzed the key approaches to understanding of such notions as “home”, “home environment”, we also researched different characteristics and qualities of home, its multi-functionality as seen in psychology. Realization of interdisciplinary research is the result of this analysis. The results of the study can be introduced into the processes of examination and designing of home environment and of places substituting home, they can be used as study materials for environmental designers as well as in different trainings, games, courses, modeling consultations.
