Operationalizing "Legitimacy" in the Context of Contemporary Russia (Through the Lens of P. Bourdieu's Theory)

Present thesis is intended to consideration of the concept of “legitimacy” within sociological framework of Pierre Bourdieu and its application to concrete legitimate practices in contemporary Russia over the period since 2000s. We are to operationalize the concept of legitimacy in various forms: a) by defining it within author’s theory of genetic structuralism and formalizing it as part of extended discourse on legitimation; b) by application to contextual material of Russian case and, more specifically, political functioning of category of “patriotism”; c) by observing of certain social mechanisms introduced by Bourdieu’s reflexive sociology, that operationalize (in a sense of practical realization and applicability to political reality) process of legitimation.
