Application of Lean and Six Sigma Principles to Improve the Organization’s Business Processes

The industrial enterprise of the central region of the Russian Federation, LLC "Delovoy Stil" was chosen as an object of research. The application of the concept of "lean manufacturing" in conjunction with the "six sigma" method and the proposal of recommendations to the enterprise are the subject of this study. The purpose of the study is to formulate recommendations on the application of modern concepts and management theories for improving the business processes of the manufacturing company. The master's thesis consists of three sections, the first of which highlights the theoretical basis for improving and optimizing business processes. The next section is devoted to a more detailed study of the components of the ideas of "lean manufacturing" and "six sigma", the factors of success and failure of their implementation, as well as the description of examples of "best practices". In the third section, after describing the selected research object, the application of the principles of the 6σ Lean concepts, as well as their influence on the research object, is described. In conclusion, the recommendations on the application of selected concepts in the industry, as well as the expected usefulness of their implementation are presented. The analysis of the current state of the enterprise made it possible to confirm the need for significant changes in the production of hosiery to ensure a sufficient level of quality for the consumer, as well as reduce the losses that are created during the current process of organizing production. The proven effectiveness of 6σ Lean selected as explored and practiced synthesized concepts is a valuable practical value of the research conducted and can serve as an example for other manufacturing enterprises of this sector of the economy (light industry enterprises).
