Student: Shaymardanova Vasilisa

Educational Programme: Human Resource Management (Master)

Year of Graduation: 2018

The purpose of this study is to verify the existence of a connection between the personal characteristics of martial arts trainers and their success in teaching. Results: Trainers who take responsibility for the events that occur, believe that much depends on their own abilities and efforts (internal locus of control), could begin to engage in martial arts for entirely different reasons - based on interest in the field, the desire to develop internally through this direction of activity, be able to stand up for oneself, belong to a particular group of people, spend time with friends. It is important to mention that students are less likely to get injuries while studying under supervision of trainers with an internal locus of control. This type of training contributes students` good results in both combat and other spheres of life. Teachers with an internal locus of control enjoy the work and "give themselves wholly to what they do". In this case, the relationship of coaches with students is built on trust. Trainers with an internal locus of control are satisfied with their work, prospects for professional growth and relationships with colleagues. If the coach's motivation for martial arts was originally a desire to develop internally through martial art, the teacher will be satisfied with the content of the work, the level of income, its prospects and relationships. The trainer can be successful regardless of which motive to do a martial art was the main. If the coach chose this profession because he wants to do his own growth, his students will be less likely to be injured. Trainers of martial arts with this motive of choosing a profession enjoy the teaching of single combat and communicate closely with the students.
