Managing Large-Scale IT Projects Using Agile Techniques in Companies from Financial Industry

The following thesis is devoted to the research of an application of agile project management techniques to large-scale IT projects in companies from financial industry. Regardless of the fact that inherent specifics of agile project management was crafted to naturally start up small projects with complementary team members, an increasing number of medium and large business start to define ‘a path to agile’ in their strategies. The goal of this thesis is to define the distinctive features of agile project management techniques in application to large-scale IT projects in financial industry with the emphasis placed on the transition process from traditional model of project management to the one perceived as more agile. The object of the following research is medium and large companies from financial industry that employ agile approach in their operations. Companies operating in the Russian market make up the sample of the current research. The following research has allowed to identify distinctive features of agile transformation in large businesses from financial industry. Large-scale Scrum (LeSS) methodology and its application were thoroughly overviewed in the current thesis. An econometric research has been employed to derive valuable implications from the way agile techniques are used in the Russian market. A system of recommendations for agile transformation for large-scale projects concludes the following research.
