Analysis of Factors of Sustainability of the Level of Educational Achievements: Cross-Country Context

This study considers the analysis of factors of sustainability of the level of student’s educational achievements as well as the analysis of country characteristics, presumably causing cross-country variation. The dataset consists of more than 13 thousand students from 10 different countries, from TIMSS-2015 international survey and is analyzed by using multilevel modelling. Results of this study showed that there is a statistically significant reciprocity between student, family resources, school and teacher characteristics and the probability of sustaining high level of student’s educational achievements. In addition, was indicated a set of country characteristics explaining the cross-country variation: the type of educational system, GDP per capita, the Gini index, the unemployment rate and the government expenditure on education.
