The Role of Business for Sustainable Public Procurement

Research on the role of business in sustainable public procurement. Is it profitable for businesses to participate in environmental public procurement, what barriers and drivers in the way of suppliers arise in public procurement with environmental requirements, how the business can influence sustainable public procurement, these issues are considered in this study. The problem of the study is whether the business can influence the activity of applying the principles of sustainability and environmental criteria and requirements in public procurement. Based on an analysis of foreign studies, a survey of business representatives and an interview with a representative of the NGO Ecological Union, it was concluded that business can influence sustainable public procurement by creating conditions for eco-labeling, cooperation with NGOs, setting national standards and holding an event, round tables with customers. The practical applicability of the study is to create recommendations for implementing sustainable procurement.
