Use of Supercapacitors of Energy Sources for Some Practical Applications

Student: Borisov Ilya

Supervisor: Daniil Bograchev

Faculty: HSE Tikhonov Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics (MIEM HSE)

Educational Programme: Infocommunication Technologies and Systems (Bachelor)

Year of Graduation: 2018

In this graduate qualification work, scientific, theoretical and design tasks were solved. The main one is the creation of a working prototype of an uninterruptible power supply with supercapacitors, testing the technology for further work with manufacturing plants. Also the analysis of the market of uninterruptible power supplies was made, the choice of equipment was justified and the economic efficiency of this technical solution was analyzed with recommendations for further work on the project. In addition, the work demonstrates one more technical application of supercapacitors - a car battery replacement or addition. In the manual of the WRC there is a report on the results of using such a solution on UAZ vehicles. Another important task of this work is mathematical modeling and optimization of the hybrid supercapacitor model taking into account pseudo-capacitive phenomena. This model was developed on the basis of the simulation of a hybrid ionistor, which was presented by the authors of this work within the framework of the interdisciplinary course work for 2017. In addition, the simulation of the serial supercapacitor module was performed and a detailed report on its certification testing is presented. As a final task of this WRC, a group of authors carried out calculations of a laboratory electric piling machine, and concluded that it is expedient to use supercapacitors in the power system of such a machine. In addition, an approximate estimate was prepared for the construction of such a machine, as well as an overview of the market for such piling machines, with the justification for the cost-effectiveness of creating a new machine. These projects are of interest to market participants, and also are actually "billets" of start-ups. All materials and spare parts used in the work are owned by Legrand Group Russia and / or Titan PS company. The result of the work on the WRC project is the manual with the applications and the presentation of this work.
