Teaching Impromptu Public Speaking to Students of Philological Faculties

The present work is dedicated to the peculiarities of teaching impromptu public speaking in English to students of philological faculties (language professions, in particular). The object of analysis is public speech. The subject of research is teaching impromptu public speaking to students of philological faculties. In the course of research we analyzed and described briefly history of rhetoric studies. Moreover, the components of public speech and the characteristics of impromptu public speech were subjected to the detailed analysis. The empirical part of this work comprises the development of course program of teaching impromptu public speaking to students of philological faculties. The present course is aimed at bachelor students of 2-4 courses. In order to form skills of impromptu public speaking, one should form skills of public speaking with preparation. Hence while developing the present course we paid much attention to forming students’ skills of public speaking with preliminary preparation.
