For most of us, family is considered to be a place where we can get a support in any life situation. At the same time, according to statistics, violence comes from family members more often than from other people. The main purpose of the research was the assessment of the admissibility of marital violence by two generations in Russian society. The study was conducted through an online survey. The sample included Moscow population from 18 to 30 and 38-50 years, regardless of their experience of domestic violence. The prevalence of domestic violence depends on the attitude towards it and the admissibility of it by the society, and the millennium generation is the future basis of our society. So it was expected that tendencies of the development of nowadays society lead to the idea of gender equality and domestic violence is much less admitted among young population (comparing to older generation). However the results of the study indicate that there is no difference between two generations in rates of admissibility of marital violence. The results confirm the existence of the problem of contradictory Russian mass consciousness, which admits the value of family relations and at the same time is characterized by prevalence of domestic violence in society. The problem is that people say they do not admit marital violence, but in fact they just do not perceive cases of violence as such.
