Development of Pipeline for Metagenome Data Analysis for the task of Fecal Microbiota Transplantation

Student: Fedorov Dmitriy

Faculty: Faculty of Computer Science

Educational Programme: Data Analysis for Biology and Medicine (Master)

Year of Graduation: 2018

FMT (Faecal Microbiota Transplantation) is a promising method of treatment of various pathologies of the human gut. However, the underlying mechanisms remain unknown. The main method of studying mechanisms of FMT is exploring the changes in patient’s gut microbial community with the help of 16r RNA or whole genome shotgun sequencing of feces. Metagenomics data (as well as other -omics data) together with clinical information about patients form a big data array, which needs software environment for effective collection and processing. This work presents a prototype of a system specifically designed for clinical data collection and integration with metagenomics analysis pipeline. The system was validated by analysis of metagenomic samples from current RIPCM FMT study.
