Bilingual education in the PRC: problems and perspectives (based on the material of the secondary school)

This paper is dedicated to the bilingual education in the People's Republic of China at its present stage. The purpose of the work is to characterize the problems and perspectives of bilingual education in modern China. The history of formation and the specifics of building a bilingual education system in the PRC during the 20th century are considered. The characteristic of the current state of bilingual education in China is given. Considered in detail the education system of the PRC as a whole. The place that bilingual education occupies in this system is defined. Reflects the national specifics, as well as the policy of the PRC in relation to this type of education. Particular attention is paid to the problem of national minorities, the main language of which is not Chinese.
