To accomplish this goal, legal problems related to the use and distribution of audiovisual works on the Internet were carried out; an analysis of domestic and foreign legislation in this field of law was made; judicial practice, as well as the most relevant European Union Directives, was studied. The following ideas were put forward during the study: a) Inaccuracy in the legal regulation of the use and distribution of audiovisual products on the Internet creates conditions for the abuse of the right by authors and rights holders; b) The unlicensed use and distribution of audiovisual works indirectly stimulated rightholders to innovate the sphere of the legal distribution industry for audiovisual content in the network; c) Many legislative innovations lead to a serious violation of the basic rights and freedoms of ordinary users: hosting providers are monitoring users’ information, providing censorship on the Internet, that is why freedom of speech is violated; d) In the process of copyright protection, it is important to keep in mind the need to balance the interests of many parties. Based on the problems identified, the author put forward a number of proposals to improve the regulation of copyright in audiovisual works on the Internet.
