The Phenomenon of Self-handicapping in the Strategic Cooperation

This paper is devoted to modeling the phenomenon of self-handicapping both for one player and for 2 players with their strategic interaction. The factors contributing to the manifestation of self-handicapping were identified which turned out to be similar for both presented models. It was also revealed how the presence of a second player affects the likelihood of applying a strategy of self-handicapping.
