Development of the Japanese Energy Sector: The Optimal Path of Investment under Different Scenarios

The theme of the master thesis is Development of Japanese Energy Sector: the Optimal Path of Investment under different scenarios. The work is urgent as far as Japan`s energy safety problem is still unresolved. The purpose of the research is to develop an investment strategy, which has the highest capital efficiency and profitability of all other possible investment options. In order to achieve it, there was a list of research goals to meet, including researching the peculiarities of the development of the energy sector of Japan, highlighting the hot-button issues, that are still presenting there, to examine the special weaknesses of every energy production branch, observing the trends on the global energy-resources market and the energy market of Japan in particular, to assess the investment perspectives for every electricity production way and define the most attractive ones in terms of deriving benefits of the capital investments. The methodology includes review and analysis of the information sources, implementing a scientific synthesis, the building of financial models, investment profitability analysis and comparative analysis. On the basement of the researches implemented and due to the methods used, the outcomes of the present research is the proof of being the "Sakhalin-Hokkaido" pipeline build up project the most beneficial if compare to other chosen strategies./
