Psychodynamic Basis and Personal Meaning of the Use of Profanity by Humanitarian Intellectuals with a PhD Degree This study is devoted to the study of psychodynamic basis and personal meaning of the use of profanity by humanitarian intellectuals. Ten semi-structured interviews with candidates of and/or doctors of humanitarian science were conducted during the study. Phenomenological description of those interviews allowed to highlight the following topics: "extreme situations", "strong negative emotions", "multi-cause", "long-term negative emotional background", "personal concern", "trusting relationship", "the need to keep a public face", " profanity taboo", "insult as a direct meaning of profanity", " appropriateness", etc. Interpretation of the results from existential analysis point of view showed that profanity can be both a coping reaction (mainly in the 3rd fundamental motivation), and as a personal activity. Psychodynamic reasons for the use of profanity: extreme situation; sharp and very strong negative emotions; several reasons causing negative feelings; long-term negative emotional background with the fact that something else happened suddenly; personal involvement. The personal meaning of the use of profanity: in order to be better understood by those who speak in such "language" (uses it as an integral part os speech); actualization of the general cultural context in order to make laugh, add energy, defuse the situation, epatage, stop the situation. The specifics of the use of profanity in humanitarian intellectuals is that, with the help of these words, implicitly charged emotionally, intellectuals distance themselves from their own emotions.
