New technologies are being intensively developed, in particular carsharing. The use of carsharing has a positive effect on a city: reduces traffic congestion and environmental pollution. But communication barriers impede the adoption of new technologies. The purpose of this thesis is to study the impact of communication barriers on the use of carsharing and to offer recommendations for overcoming them. In the theoretical part the following concepts were systematized: «city», «urban communications», «digital city», «sharing economy», «communications with technologies». Moreover, an analysis of approaches to classification of communication barriers was presented and the classification of communication barriers in relation to carsharing was designed. In the practical part we explored the influence of communication barriers on the adoption of carsharing technology. Methodology of the work is based on a mixed methods research by an additional coverage method: the results of online-survey (n = 400) are supplemented by depth interviews data (n = 16) and a secondary analysis of survey data (n = 1671). As a result, we come to the conclusion of which communication barriers affect the adoption of carsharing and how they do it and also we made recommendations to overcome them.
