Practices of Public Space Usage in the Courtyards of Saint Petersburg

This work is devoted to the study of existing practices of public places usage in the courtyards of St. Petersburg. Four areas in St. Petersburg were selected for the study using two qualitative methods - semi-structured interviews and observations. The results of this work show what practices of using public places exist in St. Petersburg, what conflicts arise about these practices, and who are actors in these conflicts. Also, some strategies of avoiding conflicts and meeting the demands of different categories of people present in the public space of the yard were considered.
