Community Management in the Game Industry: Technologies of Interaction with Fan Communities in Russia

The work is devoted to the study of Community Management in the gaming industry; definition of the role of the communication manager, his duties; analysis of technologies of interaction with communities of players in the Russian segment of game communities. The structure of modern gaming communities was analyzed, the main roles of participants were defined, typology of the most popular gaming communities was performed. The work discusses the main services that provide the possibility to purchase multi-user game products. Qualitative and quantitative methods were used to study the structure of gaming communities. As a result of quantitative studies, the dependence between the number of community participants and the number+quality of comments within it was inferred. The qualitative methods allowed the researcher to understand the game communities from both sides - from the point of player and the user, as well as from the point of community manager.
