The term “video game” is not defined in Russian law. Conducting sports competitions in computer sports. In terms of "video game" the term "computer game" is used, which implies these terms by synonyms. And all these approaches are changing, but the only points of view have not been found. The work will analyze the scientific literature and judicial practice, consider possible approaches to the legal regulation of the creation and use of video games. To illustrate changes in approaches to the legal nature of computer games. Conclusions, the results of research, research in the field of judicial practice can be useful for developing the most effective methods for the development, protection and use of video games, taking into account their specificity as a complex object.
