Faculty: Faculty of Creative Industries

Educational Programme: Data Journalism (Master)

Final Grade: 8

Year of Graduation: 2020

The work is devoted to the study of common practices in Russia for determining and collecting alimony for minor children. The research is located at the intersection of several academic fields – law, programming, and journalism. The aim of the work was to create a media project about alimony based on open data. As a result of the research, not only journalistic material was created, but also a thematic data set was published, which will be useful for researchers from different fields of knowledge who do not have the skills to work with large amounts of data and programming. In the course of the work, we found systemic problems that were not previously noticed in the media and academic works, which play the role of a serious obstacle to the determination and recovery of child support in Russia.
