This final thesis is devoted to The Lifestyle and Traditions of the Modern Russian-speaking Diaspora of the USA in Media Coverage from the perspective of socio-cultural adaptation, including the peculiarities of speech behavior. The relevance of the chosen topic is explained by the insufficient level of research into the fifth wave of Russian emigration and the need to find ways to overcome the problems that arise in the process of adaptation. The main proposition of the work is that the high activity and influence of the Diaspora is a significant obstacle in the process of adaptation in the host society, especially from the point of view of the linguistic aspect. The object of the research is the Russian-speaking Diaspora in the United States of America. The subject of the research is the way of life and traditions of the Russian-speaking Diaspora in the United States in the XXI century and its problems, mainly at the level of adaptation and language culture raised in the media. The work aims to identify the main trends in the lifestyle of the modern Russian-speaking Diaspora and its adaptation problems, in particular the linguistic barrier and features of speech behavior, as well as to suggest the main ways to solve these problems. The tasks of the final thesis are: 1) to review the theoretical framework for the study of migration with an emphasis on the social and cultural aspect; 2) to identify basic features of lifestyle with an emphasis on problems of integration of Russian Diaspora of the USA; 3) to define the linguistic and cultural characteristics of the inhabitants of Brighton Beach; 4) to offer possible solutions to the basic adaptive problems. The work consists of an introduction, two chapters, conclusion, references, and appendices. In the first chapter, the phenomenon of emigration as a process of intercultural communication was studied. The article analyzes the views of various researchers on the process of transnationalism, the theory of push and pull factors, acculturation and its strategies, models of ethnic development in a multicultural society, and cultural shock. The second сhapter reveals the peculiarities of the lifestyle of the modern Russian Diaspora in the United States based on media materials on two levels: 1) at the level of individual representatives of the Diaspora who moved in the XX century and now live in different parts of the United States (based on video interviews) and 2) at the level of representatives of different waves of the Russian emigration, currently representing the modern Russian-speaking Diaspora in the Brighton Beach area (based on the survey of residents of Brighton beach). Further, in the second chapter, the features of speech behavior of Russian-speaking immigrants in North America are studied based on advertising signs on Brighton beach and examples of speech from video materials. In the conclusion part, the summary is made based on the tasks set. The total volume of the work is 83 pages of text, including 7 pages of references, including 35 research literature units and 83 sources in Russian and English languages, 7 appendices.
